Whether you’re a luddite or a technophile (or something in between), there is no escaping the virtual world as a modern day speaker. Thanks to the pandemic, we have built solid skills in the virtual delivery space… but are we ready to take our presentations to outta space?? Or a new universe? To the Metaverse??
The Metaverse is defined as ‘a virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users’. But what exactly does that mean? How is it different from Zoom, or Miro, or Teams? Is this just another new fad (like I wish acid wash jeans were), or is it here to stay? And most importantly, as speakers, do we need to care?
The answer is yes. We need to care. At a minimum, speakers need to know what trends are coming and how we want to position ourselves within them. At most, we want to be at the forefront of delivering within them. The choice is ours. To help us learn about the ins and outs of the new virtual frontier, we’ve invited the queen of the Metaverse herself, Lindsey Leigh Hobson. Lindsey will guide us through a hands-on experience of the Metaverse and share her experiences of running conferences and working with clients in this space.
