The speaking industry provides opportunities to earn a significant amount of money, however, many professional speakers’ incomes fluctuate over their career. In this presentation, wealth management expert John Barton will discuss the importance of managing your money so you build a personal balance sheet with a specific understanding of purpose so you can achieve financial freedom and increased financial resilience. He will share what financial freedom means, and what you need to consider to be more financially resilient. He will also share his insights on the interaction of psychology, mindset, personal finances, and the current state of investment markets.

About John

John Barton is Chief Executive Officer of the MGD Group, a boutique financial services firm that provides tailored financial solutions for individuals, families, businesses, and corporates Australia-wide. They help their clients manage, protect, and grow their wealth, giving them the financial freedom and financial resilience to achieve their personal, financial, and career aspirations. John also has numerous board responsibilities including Chair of Business South Bank, Chair of Vast Bioscience, a founding Director of Hoplon Cyber Security and Board Member of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation. John is co-host of the Minds to Markets podcast, showcasing his knowledge and passion for behavioural economics. Away from the office, John is a regular cyclist and is frequently seen riding his bike in and around Brisbane. He also enjoys golf and sharing a good cabernet.

About Martin

Martin Brooker is a veteran of 37 years’ service in the Australian Navy, including operational service in command of an Amphibious Ship in the Middle East and Pacific, Deputy Commander of Australia’s Joint Forces in the Middle East and Afghanistan, and Program Director for Navy’s biggest change program.

Martin works with organisations invested in creating high performing teams within cultures underpinned by integrity, innovation, and individual responsibility. His powerful keynotes and workshops draw on real world experience leading men and women in harm’s way – the mistakes made, the critical lessons learned and how to lead teams to consistently deliver high-performance.
