Please join us for our July virtual HUG!

The SA July HUG will be held on 28 September at 7:15pm via Zoom.

You are of course also welcome to join any of the State Chapter HUGs as we share the love across the country. All of these events are free to members. Guests can also join the HUGs for a small registration charge.

At the September HUG, we are delighted to have Dale Rees-Bevan join us and present:

Mining for Metaphors

As professional speakers, we have a challenge to get our message(s) through in shorter and shorter time frames. Metaphors are a powerful tool to use increase the impact and efficiency of our speaking.

In this session we’ll go back to basics and look at what metaphors are, we’ll look at how metaphors can be used and then we’ll get out our shovels and go mining for metaphors – exploring the world around us to find useful *new* metaphors to enrich our speaking. We’ll also delve into the murky areas of simile and analogy while we’re getting technical!

Participants will be encouraged to use this hour to explore ideas and strategies to add a new metaphor to their repertoire.
