For us all to work together to support each other during the current challenging climate we will be running our normal Chapter meet-ups as Chapter HUGs via Zoom. You are welcome to join any of the state chapter HUGs as we share the love across the country. All of these events are free to members. Guests can also join the HUGs for a small registration charge.

The QLD September HUG will be held on 29 July at 6pm and we are delighted to have Julian Mather presenting.

You don't want to miss this session! Here is a recent testimonial for Julian:

Julian Mather's session this evening at #APSC20 was a masterclass in integrating virtual with video and creating what he calls virtvee-style presentations. It was jaw-droppingly awesome. Outstanding levels of craftmanship, customisation, preparation and simply stunning experiential learning that demands attention, action and standards-raising from all who witnessed what he did. He was incredibly good." Tim Wade, Head of Transformation at WADE.global.

Members and guests from other states are very welcome to pre-register to attend.

‘Be Thumb-Stopping!’ with Julian Mather

A speakers’ guide to the long and short of video storytelling, for big impact on the small screen.

Who ‘COVID-panicked’ and tried to wedge a long presentation into a short virtual slot?

Bet you and the client weren’t high-five-ing. Youtube or TED, the speaker’s move to the
small screen is a move to snack-able content.

We’re in a time when video gets eyeballs, attention is short, boring is unforgivable and stories are more powerful than ever. Short form video storytelling will be a new skill and those that can do it will be in demand. The good news for speakers: it’s a skill and skills can be learned.

In this session Julian Mather shows:

  • You can’t win the new game playing by the old rules. What video strategies getting traction right now?
  • A picture paints a thousand words. Learn new ways to tell a story without words.
  • Create a magic carpet ride - how to mix long form stage presentation with short form video for an audience pleasing mix.
  • BONUS: How I pitch to international speaking associations to speak at their events

About Julian

Julian Mather has seen the world through many lenses. Through a telescopic sight as an army sniper. Through the TV lens as a globe-trotting videographer for ABCTV, National Geographic and BBC. Through smoke and mirrors as a professional magician.

He's travelled far but his longest journeys have been from behind the camera to in front of it. From stutterer to professional speaker. From to polite dip eater to insatiable hummus addict.

Now Australia’s Most Hated Videographer (by other videographers, that is), he gives up all
the pro secrets so anyone can make powerful business videos with their smartphone.

He’s also Professional Speakers Australia Qld|NT Vice-President.

MC

Your MC for the night will be the QLD|NT Chapter President Nina Sunday CSP.
