Choosing Your Words to Reach a Diverse Generational Audience

Bob Selden

In this enlightening presentation, Bob Selden will discuss and demonstrate how we can use words to reach a diverse generational audience, with a particular emphasis on inspiring others to change their behaviour.

The words we hear from others, can significantly impact our behaviour. Obviously this happens consciously when we follow an instruction given by someone or an authority we trust. But it can also happen almost subliminally. That is, we sometimes act almost unconsciously to words we are hearing. This knowledge is particularly important (and useful) for us as presenters.

What you'll learn in this thought-provoking session:

  • How to reach people - from Millennials to Baby Boomers (and beyond), with words to engage and engender commitment to change
  • How to identify your audience - age, background, experience
  • Words or phrases to identify the needs of your audience
  • How to measure your success as a presenter

About Bob Selden

Bob is the author of the best-selling What To Do When You Become The Boss: How new managers become successful managers and the recently released Don’t: How using the right words will change your life - a book on words and how they impact ours and other’s behaviour, either positively or negatively.

Ditch the Data, Sell the Story

Simone de Haas - The Speakers' Director

Stories can be powerful business tools, and successful leaders use them to engage their teams. Entrepreneurs use the art of storytelling to drive sales, and speakers use stories to transform.

Stories can change the way we think, feel and act. Stories can capture our imaginations, illustrate our ideas, arouse our passions, and inspire us in a way that cold, hard facts often can't.

In this dynamic and interactive presentation, QLD PSA Chapter President and multi-award-winning Theatrepreneur, Simone de Haas, will share her top tips for crafting your most compelling business story and how to bring it to life using tried and tested theatre techniques. Simone will facilitate a number of ‘in the spotlight’ story coaching demonstrations with members of the audience!

What you'll learn in this super-exciting session:

  • Identify the key stories every speaker needs to master
  • How to leverage the Power of Your Story to Monetise Your Message
  • A simple story structure model to make creating your business and personal stories a breeze
  • How to ‘take it off the page’ – using acting techniques to improve your story-telling

Pre-Session - Tales from the Trenches facilitated by the sensational Dale Rees-Bevan and a special feature by Sam Ades

100/100 Sales by Sam Ades - to say that Sam has had a colourful background in Sales would be an understatement! From humble beginnings, helping his Dad sell goods from the tailgate of a 5-tonne truck and for the last decade selling Egyptian cotton sheets door to door, you could say that Sam has relationship selling down pat.
