Marketing You and Your Product

The November NSAA WA Chapter meeting will be about the marketing of ourselves as speakers and our products.

We are lucky to have the perspective from two different experts in their fields.

Part One: DIY Media Exposure with Dr Joe Kosterich M.B.B.S

It is possible to get yourself and your message in the media. Dr Joe shows us how to get media exposure. The key points in this session are:
  • Deciding what you want to get out of being in the media
  • Social media and internet gives you a platform not available in the past
  • Ideas on how to maximise effect without spending hours and hours
  • Mainstream media still matters!
  • Understanding the media and how it "works"
  • Develop a presence and a brand
  • Have something to say
  • Making yourself "the expert"

Author, speaker, doctor and health industry consultant, Dr Joe Kosterich wants you to be healthy and get the most out of life.

The author of Dr Joe’s DIY Health, he has a regular health segment on Channel 9. He writes for Medical Observer magazine, sits on the advisory panel of Prevention Magazine and is assistant clinical editor of Medical Forum. Dr Joe has regular segments on radio 6PR Perth and 4BC Brisbane.

Previously Dr Joe held senior positions in the Australian Medical Association and sat on numerous industry and government boards. He has extensive corporate experience in the setting up and management of medical centres and in helping businesses maintain a healthy workforce.

Part Two: 12 +1 P’s of Effective Marketing with Graham Harvey

The most successful businesses don’t necessarily have the best products, services or prices; they do however have the best marketing strategies.” - Graham Harvey

Effective marketing has little to do with placing an ad in the local newspaper or industry magazine and then hoping that someone will see it and do business with you. It has everything to do with knowing exactly who your ‘choice-rich, time-poor’ customers are, where they come from, what they want, what price they will pay, and what it takes for them to keep doing business with you, verses the countless options they have available to them in today’s crowded marketplace.

Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.” (American Marketing Association 2007)

Marketing 101 traditionally cites 4 P’s; Product, Place, Price and Promotion. I like to add eight plus one more.

Graham Harvey is a Professional Speaker, Marketing Strategist, Business Coach and the bestselling author of Seducing the Vigilanté Customer - 101 winning strategies to attract and retain happy customers and healthy profits.

With a passion for researching global business trends and an ability to convey the complex in simple terms, Graham is a dynamic speaker whose personal mission is ‘to challenge, inspire and empower individuals and organisations to create, build and grow futures of greatness through vision, innovation and service’.

In 2006, Graham and his wife made a sea-change moving from Perth to Albany on Western Australia’s beautiful south coast where he continues to live and base his business activities. He is currently completing his new book Design! Deliver! Delight! – winning strategies to develop a great customer experience and a culture of service excellence.
